The Essence of Christmas

          
          Every person has his own priorities, his own wants and needs. Some people choose material things, while other prefer tangible ones such as love, piece, prosperity and good health among others. We are in that special season once again, a season of joy, of peace, of great tidings. A season when we celebrate the birth of Christ the King, the redeemer of mankind! Jesus is the reason for the season. In this month of December, it is a must for us to remember that our Lord came in this world in order to save us from our sins; He came to redeem us from the wickedness of this world. 

           Christmas is not all about merry making. We must also spare time to reflect on the essence of the period which is the love of God for humanity. This unquantifiable love is summed up in the popular bible verse John 3: 16 “For God so loved the world that he gave us his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him will not perish but have eternal life.”When we ponder on God’s love for us, we too are encouraged to share love with others, to embrace peace and be our brother’s keeper. When we are imbued with this love of God, we will be always willing to give a helping hand to those in need, to give help and comfort to the vulnerable ones amongst others. Thus, we should count ourselves lucky to be alive to see this Christmas. This should therefore be a period of gratitude to God for sparing our lives and counting us among the living.

           Christmas basically means sharing what you have, not just the material things but also those that can only be felt like a warm, tight hug, a simple thank you, showing our appreciation to our loved ones and forgiveness among others. Whichever of these are important to you this holiday season, just remember that it’s the thought that counts and that love is the most important thing in the world. When love governs our hearts and minds, everything will follow and we don’t need to wait for Christmas time to share our love to other people.

        When I was a kid,  I used to have plenty of dreams, I may not even remember some of it anymore. But most those dreams were just fantasies because I was just kid before. Now, as I'm becoming older and mature, I am now more aware of my environment and becoming more realistic. Not like when I was a kid anymore, although there is still some, nonetheless I now think of realities.             I have a lot of big dreams in my life. I wanted to become either a doctor, scientist, lawyer, pilot or an engineer. But I became more realistic and said to myself that I can't be studying all of my life just to learn all of these professions, I just have to choose one.           Hi there! My full name is Marius Lorrence Alejon Padua, 16 years of age. I was born on May 13, 2003 at Metro Vigan Cooperative Hospital. Currently studying at Ilocos Sur National High School ; I am a junior high school student, grade 10 student to be exact. I live at Cabanglutan, San Juan, Ilocos Sur and I ride on a bus everytime I go to school and to go home. I already practiced doing it since I was in grade 7 so there's nothing to worry about. Thanks to my parents, they pushed me to study here, instead of studying at San Juan National High School. If I don't practice to go far or away from my parents, I will have difficulties in adjusting myself when I will go to college.
