A School Is more Fun with Happy Schools Movement

The 'Happy Schools Movement' (HSM) project was launched by the Department of Education (DepEd) to increase learning productivity of students through fun and happy activities. The regional launch of HSM was held at the Vigan Convention Center on May 20, and was set on the theme: "Paaralang Masayang Maglingkod, Tagumpay ng Bata'y Itaguyod." The movement seeks to promote every school to be a better and enjoyable place to study.

The movement aims to infuse in the minds of pupils that school is not just a place for learning but also a place for fun and enjoyment as they learn. Activities and movements had been in the center stage to make a child-friendly school. It is confirmed that a positive school can help decrease absenteeism, suspension and bullying. Likewise, it increases students' achievement and motivation to learn. HSM doesn't only concern learners but also the teachers. Happy teachers build a happy environment and mold happy learners.

Happy Schools Movement is indeed a very promising transformative advocacy to our school. We should see to it that there is a return of investment on the way they learn and that they become life-long learners, very much ready to conquer the world with happiness in their thoughts, words and actions. If this happens it will be more fun in schools, no children will be left behind and what a wonderful world it will be!
