2019 National Children' s Month

November marks the start of National Children's Month, as declared by the Council of Welfare for Children. The Department of Education enjoined all private and public elementary and secondary schools to undertake activities in line with the celebration of the 2019 National Children's Month. It is celebrated with the theme, "Karapatang Pambata: Patuloy na Pahalagahan at Gampanan tungo sa Magandang Kinabukasan."

Some of the activities relevant to the celebration may include hoisting of banner depicting its theme, recitation of "Panatang Makabata" during the flag ceremonies, and more. This month-long celebration aims to promote and spread awareness on the rights of children here in the Philippines, considering the political and social climate they live in. These rights are the rights to survival, development, protection, and participation. As individuals and members of a family and community, children deserve to have the rights appropriate to his or her age and stage of development.

Together let us celebrate and recognize children as the most valuable assets of the nation. We should emphasize the importance of their role within the Filipino family and Philippine society. By giving them their respectful rights, they will have a better future, and their future eventually becomes the future of one another, the future of our nation.
